Phormium ‘Apricot Queen’ – 2 litre pot
Otter Price: £14.99
Phormium ‘Apricot Queen’ is an evergreen shrub with peachy yellow foliage lined with a green margin. It can occasionally produce bronze flowers during late summer. Phormiums are exotic-looking plants, forming eye-catching clumps of colourful, sword-shaped leaves. They are ideal for planting in borders and large containers. Once established, Phormiums are drought tolerant and easy to maintain, great for coastal planting.
Care instructions:
– Avoid planting directly in the frozen soil.
– Container planting is possible throughout the year; use containers that are large and deep enough to prevent roots from freezing in the winter and ensure there are drainage holes in the bottom of the container. Planting in small containers will lead to plants becoming rootbound.
– Water well after planting. Water well in dry weather. Avoid waterlogged conditions in winter. Established plants can cope with dry conditions well. If planted in containers, water regularly.
– Feed in the first year after planting with balanced feed. Established plants do not require regular feeding.
– In the spring, remove the dead and damaged leaves from the foliage. Avoid hard pruning.
– To maintain the plant’s appearance, remove faded flowers by cutting the stem to a strong leaf without leaving it sticking out of the foliage.
– Divide the plant every 3-4 years or when it becomes too large for the designated area.
