Welcome to Otter Whitchurch – Bristol

We are thrilled to reveal that Otter has acquired our eighth garden centre – this one in Whitchurch near Bristol.

Whitchurch was previously one of three garden centres in the Whitehall Garden Centre business, founded by the Self family in 1970. It’s now a fourth generation family-run operation, sharing many values with Otter, which, as our customers know, is also a family-run business.

Our MD, Jacqui Taylor said: “We have known the Self family for many years now and have always admired their way of running an independent family business. What really appealed to us was how closely their ethos aligns with our own: family-run, customer-focused and with a strong commitment to quality and sustainability.

“Like Otter, they are known for offering exceptional plants, something we know our customers really value. We will be supplying the Whitchurch garden centre with plants from our own growing nurseries, which we are sure our new customers will love.”

Existing Whitehall team members are staying on to provide continuity and the garden centre will continue to run as usual, with the same opening hours.

This is a big step for us and we are thrilled to welcome the Whitchurch team and customers to the Otter family. We’re looking forward to building strong relationships with the local community and the many existing loyal customers.
