Christmas at Otter Garden Centres has always been about much more than shopping. As an independent, family-run business, Otter has been helping families create treasured festive memories for more than 60 years. For many visitors, a trip to Otter is as much a part of the season as decorating the tree or pulling crackers around the table.

It’s become a cherished family tradition. Adults who first visited with their parents or grandparents now return with children of their own, eager to pass on the same wide-eyed wonder they remember from childhood.

While you’ll find an astonishing selection of Christmas trees, decorations, gifts, cards and wrapping paper, that’s only part of the story. Otter’s dedicated team believes every festive visit should be memorable. Year after year, they pour creativity into transforming each Christmas Shop into a magical world of beautifully styled displays, where inspiration and surprises await around every corner.

Unsurprisingly, tastes have evolved over the years. While many customers fondly remember the colourful tinsel, flamboyant baubles and fibre-optic trees of Christmases past, today’s offerings feature dazzling illuminated sculptures, elegant lighting, sophisticated, themed collections and breathtaking festive styling. At the same time, there’s a growing appreciation for vintage-inspired paper decorations and handcrafted ornaments, reflecting a desire to celebrate more sustainably without losing any of the magic.

Otter’s Managing Director, Jacqui Taylor, is excited to unveil this year’s enhancements. She says: “2026 marks an exciting new chapter for Christmas at Otter.

We’re creating an even more immersive and inspirational festive experience, with beautiful seasonal scenes, dazzling displays and fresh ideas for decorating that will spark the magic from the moment customers arrive.

And we’re promising even more of the much-loved animated characters that have become favourites with children and adults alike, while also helping us raise funds for the wonderful local charities we support.”

Although Christmas at Otter has evolved over the decades, its heart has remained the same. It’s about bringing family and friends together to share special moments, whether that’s choosing decorations that will become part of family celebrations for years to come, posing for festive selfies, singing along with the animated penguins and reindeer, or simply enjoying time together as the excitement of the season begins to build.

This year’s reimagined festive experience promises to be the biggest, brightest and most inspiring yet, ensuring a whole new generation of families can begin a tradition they’ll treasure forever.
