Location: Ottery St Mary, EX11 1LZ

We have an exciting opportunity for a Gift & Leisure in our Ottery St Mary flagship garden centre.

We have approximately 80 retail staff covering all areas of the garden centre. This role will be responsible for all gift and leisure departments.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in retail management who is enthusiastic, outgoing, happy and a great motivator, and likes to be challenged but has the determination to achieve.

Requirements

Duties will include:
  • Full input into all retail decisions across the retail gift & leisure departments
  • Motivate and develop team to achieve set goals
  • Support the Retail Manager in ensuring the efficient day to day running of the giftware, cookware, furniture craft and clothing departments through the management team
  • Plan, organise and develop all the gift & leisure departments, whilst meeting and exceeding customer expectations and financial targets
  • Set and achieve goals on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule through your teams
  • Have responsibility for branch security and Health & Safety including opening and closing when required
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Have strong commercial experience, and be able to demonstrate working at this level in a retail environment
  • Good management skills are essential as this is a demanding role
  • You must enjoy surpassing customers' expectations and relish the challenge of retail
  • Have excellent people management skills, communication and HR compliance
  • Understanding of stock control and EPOS
  • Have a good understanding of Health and Safety in a retail environment
  • Be a coach, mentor and team player
  • Have a strong desire to achieve the best results every day

Hours

This is a permanent, full-time role with one weekend day.
