Otter Garden Centres, a leading garden centre based in Ottery St Mary, is looking for a highly organized and motivated Finance Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their finance career within a well-established and friendly company.

 

Your responsibilities will consist of:

  • Purchase Ledger Management: Processing and recording supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Payroll Assistance: Assisting with the preparation of payroll information to support the finance team.
  • Daily Cash Reconciliation: Reconciling daily cash takings from our branches.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Ensuring our bank accounts are fully reconciled, identifying and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Intercompany Invoicing: Supporting with the invoicing process for transactions between our group companies.
  • Sundry Finance Tasks: Assisting with various other financial administration tasks as required by the department.

 

Requirements

  • Previous Finance Experience: Experience with purchase ledger, reconciliations, or similar finance roles.
  • Numeracy Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with numbers accurately.
  • IT Proficiency: Confident using accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Team Player: Willingness to support the wider finance team with a variety of tasks.
  • Good Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and suppliers.
